Islands södra kust – privat heldagstur från Reykjavik
Reykjavik – Södra kusten
Rundturen avgår från Reykjavik och börjar med en färd genom bergspasset Hellisheidi, längs karga lavafält och ånga från det geotermiska kraftverket vid foten av vulkanen Hengill. Där finns det gott om ångande borrhål vars svavellukt ger området en mystisk atmosfär. Under resan över lågländerna får du göra ett kort stopp vid en bensinstation i Hvolsvollur och sedan fortsätta österut till vackra vattenfallet Seljalandsfoss.
Vattenfallen Seljalandsfoss och Gludrabui
Vattenfallet Seljalandsfoss är ett av de mest välkända vattenfallen på Island. Det är 65 meter högt och hisnande vackert. En väg går bakom vattenfallet. Det är fantastiskt att promenera bakom Seljalandsfoss, särskilt en solig dag när man kan få syn på en regnbåge. På vintern är vägen stängd eftersom den blir för hal. Du får se ett annat vattenfall som heter Gljufrabui och ligger mycket nära Seljalandsfoss. Det är 40 meter högt och framför det står en stor sten som nästan täcker det, vilket gör det svårt att se den nedre delen av vattenfallet.
Vulkanen Eyjafjallajökull och vattenfallet Skógafoss
Sedan åker du österut förbi gårdar som ligger under de tidigare havsklipporna i området Eyjafjöll. Du kommer till vattenfallet Skógafoss där vattnet från Eyjafjallajökull faller 60 meter. Det majestätiska vattenfallet är en av de mest välbesökta platserna på Island och det med rätta. När du har besökt vattenfallet, blir det ett stopp för lunch på Bistro Bar i Skogar.
Glaciären Solheimajökull
Därifrån åker du till Solheimajökull, en utloppsglaciär från den sydvästra delen av glaciären Mýrdalsjökull, som ligger i en dal.
Dyrhólaey, Islands sydligaste del
Sedan besöker du Dyrhólaey, en klippudde som sticker ut i havet vid landets sydligaste del. Atlanten och dess rytande vågor sköljer över den svarta sanden vid foten av Dyrhólaey. Därifrån kan du titta ut över det fantastiska varierade landskapet i dalen Mýrdalur med gröna fält och åkrar.
Reynisfjaras svarta sandstrand
Resan fortsätter och ni stannar för att strosa runt vid stranden Reynisfjara i närheten av byn Vik. Den anses vara Islands mest imponerande svarta sandstrand, med en fantastisk klippa av basaltkolonner som liknar en klippig trappyramid och kallas Gardar. I havet ser du Reynisdrangar, basaltklippor med spektakulära former. Men tänk på att de kraftiga vågorna kan dra omkull dig om du går för nära. Från Reynisjara återvänder du till Reykjavik.

This tour was the highlight of our trip and the first thing I tell people about when they ask about our visit to Iceland! Denis, our tour guide was amazing he's friendly, knowledgeable, a great photographer and goes above and beyond. On the tour, we saw beautiful waterfalls, picture perfect churches, hiked to a glacier, drove to the top of a mountain to see Dyrhólaey, visited a black sand beach, and saw the most amazing views while driving. At each stop, Denis offered to take pictures of us we didn't even have to ask and had us stand in certain locations so that we could get the best shot. Not only did we see amazing sights, we learned so much about Iceland and it's history and of course Denis answered every question we had. He kept us entertained the entire day. On our way back to the hotel, Denis even made a pit stop to the local pharmacy as he remembered that my mom mentioned she wanted to pick up cold medicine earlier in the day and drove us around the town of Reykjavik to show us the best places to eat in town. I can't recommend this tour enough it's worth every penny!
This was a great experience. We booked a private tour because our flight arrived at 7:40 am. We didn't want to lose a day so we booked it from 10 am. Denis was our tour guide and he was phenomenal. He knew a lot about the country. Not only was he our tour guide but our photographer as well. He definitely went above and beyond. It was cold, raining which turned to snow and very windy. He improvised and made it one of the best tours. I would highly recommend it.
This was one of the most amazing experiences of our entire trip! Our private guide Denis went above and beyond in everything we did. From locations, to information, and from 'secret spots' to the best lunch around, he is what made our trip to fantastic!
Worth the money to have a private guide tour you around. They know the worthwhile stops along the way. We even got to pet some Islandic horses, and hike behind the great falls. Was the highlight of our week long stay.
A very exciting trip as the wind was howling in the aftermath of a huge storm, and many other tours were cancelled, but we wanted to go on this tour so Denis ignored the weather and took us anyway. We did the full itinerary, but will always remember walking behind the waterfall at Seljalandsfoss, and braving the wind and rain that hit our faces like bullets to stand on the rocks at Dyrhólaey-the three of us had to hold onto each other to stop being blown away! Denis knew all the best angles for photos and made my camera do things I never knew it could- so thanks Denis for some amazing photos. During our drive we learned a lot about Iceland and its history and also shared our favourite music.We also had our best meal in Iceland at the great restaurant he took us to for lunch. Thanks Denis for a super day in your Landcruiser- we very much enjoyed our day with you, and can only recommend the private tour as an extravagance well worth it for the freedom to explore at your own pace. If you are going to Iceland then this should be on your must do list. Four seniors were chauffeured by Denis, on September 6th, 2017, a fun-loving, gregarious, knowledgeable, young man. We saw waterfalls - even walking behind one to our great delight. One of our group uses a cane and Denis assured him he could also do the walk, and assisted him every time there was a difficult step or slippery area close to and behind the falls which was a spectacular treat for us all. We visited a glacier up close and had lunch nearby another waterfall at a delightful restaurant. We went to the black sand beach area to see some amazing formations along the coast. We give this agency the highest marks and can assure you that you will thoroughly enjoy the experience, the guide, the commentary about Iceland, the comfortable ride and the beautiful way to see what the southern coast looks like. You will be picked up and dropped off at your hotel. Imagine how interesting it is when it kept 4 seniors alert, happy, awake and attentive for about 10 hours having arrived in Iceland at 6:30 their time and 3:30 a.m. our body-clock times!! Enjoy!
