Om den här aktiviteten
We are going to a unique area close to the city of Santiago, named Cajon del Maipo. This is the place where you can do adventure tourism activities and enjoy the nature and the majestic Andes Mountain range. We will leave Santiago towards San José de Maipo where if you want, you can have a rich traditional breakfast for later, start again the trip. We will continue along the Canyon of the Maipo river, following it during the whole trip until we arrive to the area of “El Cabrerio”, where our trekking starts, in the heart of the Andes Mountain range. During our trekking, we are going to discover a volcano of 5.800 meters (19.060 ft) above sea level, located a 100 kms (62 miles) away from Santiago on a hike of 4 to 5 hours, roundtrip. A journey to the past of the creation of the south American continent in a peaceful area with breathtaking landscapes all over the incredible Andes Mountain range and its glaciers. During the trekking, our professional guides are going to give us information about Chile, our nature, environmental problems, flora and fauna of the area, so we can transform this incredible trekking in an unforgettable experience. We are going to hike to La Engorda Valley, where we are going to have the best panoramic view of San José Volcano and the Andes Mountains, here we will have a moment for relaxing, eating a delicious sandwich, taking some pictures and connecting with nature. We will start our walk back to the van where we are going to share a glass of chilean wine and start again our way back to Santiago, recharged by the energy of the mountains.

Pablo our guide was great. Whilst driving to Canjon Maipo he gave us a lot of information about Chile in general and it’s indeginous people. During the hike he was very patient and took care of everyone. The hike was great ...saw SanJose Volcano and Morales Glacier in the distance

This was a good trip. I went on a cloudy January day, which was good walking weather. I was a little worried about how strenuous a hike it would be, having not done much more adventurous than walks in the national parks in Britain. However, it was fine: about 45 minutes each way, and nothing more challenging than the hills back home. Do bring walking boots, sunscreen and a hat, and multiple layers of clothing. I've dropped one star as there was no waterfall visit.

I absolutely loved this trip for several reasons: The view was awesome, the crew was so helpful and knowledgeable, and you will meet other adventurous people on this trip. Our guides provided us with hiking supplies, food, and transportation and they pointed out many of the local landmarks on the way to San Jose. When I went up in early spring, there was still plenty of snow and we saw some of the local wildlife such as birds and lizards. We ended our journey with a nice taste of Chilean culinary favorites. This is a great way to see the natural beauty of Chile!

I booked this trip a while ago as I had a spare day in Santiago. Amazing scenery. We were a group of 10 hikers - 8 Spanish speaking and 2 English. Our guides, Gonzalo and Diego were excellent it was actually Diego's first day, making sure everyone had all the information they needed and also told us about the areas we went to including the geology and wildlife. We had stops on San Juan de Maipo and also at a waterfall before going on to the volcano. They did deserve a tip at the end but they hopped of the minibus before the hotel drops! Our driver, Captain Frank was excellent too, felt very safe. We were supplied with lunch and enough water for the hike with a celebratory glass of wine at the end. It was a great day to end my 2 weeks in Chile. I would have given it 5 stars but I found communication with the company a bit lacking. I gave them the hotel address where I was staying 3 times and was still getting automated messages asking for the address. I eventually sorted out the pick up time through the Spanish speaking group leader from my previous tour, who very kindly phoned for me. I guess if you are fluent in Spanish no problem!

This tour was exactly what I wanted it to be! The tour guide was super informative and knew the answers to all the questions asked, regardless of topic - cultural, botanical, geological, political. He was very friendly and I felt like he really cared about the guests. The hike was moderately difficulty. I would not recommend it for people with very bad knees, or for children under 8.

My review is a little bit of a mixed bag. First the good stuff. Our guides were fantastic! I really couldn't have asked for better. They took great care of us and made sure we were safe and had fun. Lunch was very good. Tasty and filling. The mountain is beautiful. What disappointed me was that none of us were really prepared for the experience. Everyone on the tour thought we were going for a moderate hike on the ground, and we were all dressed for that. We actually drove up the mountain, past the snow line, and went on a rather challenging hike up the mountain in snow shoes. I will say that I enjoyed myself, and I think we were all rather proud of our unexpected accomplishment, but we would have been more comfortable with the weather and the difficulty of the hike if we knew ahead of time what we were going to be doing. Bottom line: Great people, great fun, just check to see what the activity actually entails.
