Ancestral Lima
We start our tour with a panoramic view of the “Pucllana Pyramid” a magnificent ceremonial and archaeological center built in the 4th century a.D. and considered a “sacred village” by the Incas. The Viceroyalty of Perú was the most important of the Spanish Empire and Lima was its capital.
Colonial Lima
We visit the Historical Center of Lima, where you will appreciate more than fifty monuments and Colonial edifications, such as the Paseo de la República, the San Martín Square, the Main Square, the Government Palace, the Archbishop’s Palace, the Cathedral Basilica, and the City Council Palace among others.
We will then visit the museum Banco Central de Reserva (closed to the public on Saturday and Sunday afternoon and Monday closed all day) where we will admire the “Treasures of Perú” Collection, a fine selection of objects made of gold, ceramics and textiles from different pre-columbian cultures. Next we will visit the monumental San Francisco Convent, which displays the largest collection of religious art in America. Our highlight will be the visit of the underground vaults, known as “Catacumbas” or Catacombs.
Contemporary Lima
We will visit traditional residential areas of Lima, such as El Olivar of San Isidro, Miraflores and Larcomar.

I'm giving this tour 3 stars mainly for the catacombs near the end. That was a highlight for sure, and I'm sad we couldn't take photos. Be aware that when this says half day, it's not really a half day. We were finished in under 4 hours, with quite a bit of time spent for pickups and bus changes. The information I received was good, but not nearly as thorough as I was expecting for a city tour. We didn't stop much except for the historic main district, so it was a bummer to be told of sights while speeding by on the bus. Our bus had both English and Spanish speaking tours, and even though we had headsets to better hear our particular guide, it was distracting to have the other guide speaking the other language on the bus at the same time. Just be aware of that if you have trouble hearing.
